Cultivating Balance: Meditation, Sound, & Asana

  • The Center SF 548 Fillmore Street San Francisco, CA, 94117 United States (map)

In the search for balance within our digitally occupied and accelerated culture, this journey towards inner peace invites us to practice stillness and establish stability. Join Koren Kiener for this mindfully centered practice, designed to help students cultivate a more balanced way of being.

This workshop will include guided visualizations, meditation, contemplative inquiry, in addition to instruction through standing, arm, and inverted balance postures. Poses will include beginning, intermediate, and advanced variations, encouraging students to develop strong foundations and also discover their individual edges. Opening with a meditation in motion flow, this sequencing will aid in enhancing awareness and deep embodiment (key elements for balance exploration).

There will be discussion on the benefits of these asanas involving the mental, physical, and emotional effects. Students will also be led to consider how to find more balance both on and off the mat. A brief journaling session will allow inward reflection on the new tools discussed, and how students interpret what balanced living means to them. Both meditative and active in structure, this workshop will enable practitioners to re-connect with their foundations, and support an increased sense of overall stability.

Gabriel Harris will co-host this event with live music, providing healing instrumentals to accompany this exploration. All levels are welcome, modifications will be available during pose breakdowns. Looking forward to Cultivating Balance with you!
